The Lily Family Pictures

The Washington Lily was hard for me to find so I used a friend's photograph.  Her name is Rose Hoskinson.  Much thanks.
The Alpine Lily is found along stream banks on several of the hikes.  The flower is also called the Tiger Lily, which I think is preferable.
Leopard Lily is not officially found in the Tahoe Basin, but is found near Grey Eagle. This is one of the best pictures!

There are many onions (including this Sierra Onion) which have lots of very small flowers.  However on close examination they are quite stunning!

The Camas Lily seems to be color coded, so it makes for a good classroom demonstration.  But the real value are the bulbs which were cooked into a molasses like substance that sustained Native Americans through the tough winters.

One of the most delicate and pure flowers is the Mariposa Lily.  Its grace is all the more stunning when you see it growing in barren dry soil all by itself.
